SPRINGDALE — Preserving the quality of life near Zion National Park has motivated Springdale’s Town Council to hire a consultant to advise on becoming a carless community.
Town officials have partnered with Zion National Park, the Zion Canyon Visitors Bureau, Zion Forever and the Utah Department of Transportation to encourage more people to travel to and within Springdale without relying on private automobiles.
Tom Dansie, Springdale’s community development director, told St. George News the town has been awarded a Technical Planning Assistance grant to start the project. He said after the department awarded $60,000 to hire a consultant, the Town Council chose the firm Parametrix, based in Sandy.
Dansie said the company will help educate the community, visitors, and employees about transportation alternatives for getting to Springdale and the surrounding area.
