TAYLORSVILLE — A Taylorsville man is accused of inappropriately touching a girl walking home from a park.

Juan Parra Reyes, 28, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with two counts of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

On Aug. 3, a 13-year-old girl was walking home from the park with her cousin in the area of 3800 West and 5900 South when she was approached by Reyes, according to charging documents.

“Parra Reyes grabbed (the girl) by the hand and asked (her) age. Parra Reyes then reached down and began rubbing (her) thigh,” the charges state.

Parra Reyes continued to inappropriately touch the girl before she was able to run off and tell her parents what had happened, police said. She was still crying and shaking when they talked to her, according to a police booking affidavit.

When police found Reyes and questioned him, he allegedly told them he kept trying to ask the girl how old she is, but she would not answer.

“(Parra Reyes) did not directly answer the officer’s question when asked if he touched the victim. (He) tried to avoid the question and kept saying ‘next question.’ (Parra Reyes) then re-stated he never talked (to) the victim and has never seen her before,” the affidavit states.
