CLEARFIELD — A man who was changing a tire on the side of the freeway was hit and killed Wednesday night.
Utah Highway Patrol said a 35-year-old man driving a pickup truck broke down while in the southbound HOV lane on I-15 near the Antelope Drive exit about 7:30 p.m. He got out of his truck and was in the narrow shoulder area where it was dark.
UHP Sgt. Rick Shrader said drivers did not see him until it was too late and swerved to get out of the way, but one car hit the man in the shoulder of the freeway.
The man died on scene. His identity has not yet been released.
