SALT LAKE CITY — A 45-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with “life-threatening injuries” after being struck by a car in Salt Lake City early Sunday, according to police.
Police began investigating the incident shortly after midnight on Sunday when an officer saw a car stopped in the road with its hazard lights on near 400 West and 800 South.
The officer found a 45-year-old woman who had been riding a bike in the road with multiple injuries. She was taken to the hospital with “life-threatening injuries,” Salt Lake police said in a statement.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives and officers believe the woman was riding a bicycle westbound in the eastbound lanes and struck the car head-on,” according to the statement.
Police said the vehicle’s driver is cooperating with investigators.
More information was not immediately available, and the identity of the injured woman was not released Monday.
