MAGNA — A semitruck driver is dead after crashing Thursday on I-80 near the Great Saltair.
“There’s a slight curve right there and he did not navigate that curve, went off and hit the barrier and then he overturned,” Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cam Roden said. “It was a semi hauling double trailers loaded with sand and the semi did catch on fire.”
Eastbound I-80 is currently closed and will be closed for several hours, Roden said.
“They’ve got quite a bit of cleanup to do,” he added.
Additionally, the left westbound lane of I-80 is also closed due to debris from the crash, though the right westbound lane is still open.
