OGDEN — A man died, and another man was arrested, after a driver struck a pedestrian then fled and crashed into another vehicle in Ogden on Friday.
About 5:30 p.m., Ogden police received multiple reports of a suspected impaired driver. Officers started searching the area and heard the report of a vehicle matching the suspected vehicle’s description hit a pedestrian at 20th Street and Harrison Boulevard, Ogden Police Lt. Shane Keys said.
The driver then fled in the vehicle and, a few minutes later, crashed into another vehicle at Canyons Road and Harrison Boulevard, Keys said. The occupants in the vehicle that was struck sustained serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.
Police took the driver into custody at the scene of the crash at Canyons Road.
The 50-year-old pedestrian suffered critical injuries from the crash and was transported to the hospital. The man, however, died shortly after arriving.
Police believe the man had been crossing at the intersection with the light when the suspect vehicle hit a different vehicle, pushing that vehicle into the man.
The identity of the man taken into custody was not released Friday.
